"Since 9/11, there have been over 2,300 arrests connected to Islamist terrorism in Europe in contrast to about 60 in the United States." Thus writes Marc Sageman in his influential new book, Leaderless Jihad: Terror Networks in the Twenty-First Century (University of Pennsylvania Press).
This one statistical comparison inspires Sageman, in a chapter he calls "The Atlantic Divide," to draw sweeping conclusions about the superior circumstances of American Muslims. "The rate of arrests on terrorism charges per capita among Muslims is six times higher in Europe than in the United States." The reason for this discrepancy, he argues, "lies in the differences in the extent to which these respective Muslim communities are radicalized." He praises "American cultural exceptionalism," admonishes European governments "to avoid committing mistakes that risk the loss of good will in the Muslim community," and urges Europeans to learn from Americans.
Sageman's argument rehashes what Spencer Ackerman wrote in a New Republic cover story of late 2005, when he found that "Europe's growing Muslim culture of alienation, marginalization, and jihad isn't taking root" in the United States.

But Sageman's entire case is premised on the figures of 2,300 and 60 arrests. Aside from possible other causal explanations for these differences, such as the European legal system permitting more latitude to make terrorism-related arrests, are those figures even correct? He supports them with only a brief, vague footnote: "Updating Eggen and Tate, 2005; Lustick 2006: 151-52 agrees with this estimate." Here, "Eggen and Tate, 2005" refers to a two-part newspaper article and "Lustick 2006" sources a discredited extremist screed.
In fact, Sageman's numbers are scandalously inaccurate.
European arrests: His European number is inflated. The European Police Office (Europol) issued statistics showing that in 2007, 201 Islamists were detained in the European Union (other than the United Kingdom) on terror-related charges, compared to 257 in 2006. Earlier Europol statistics are less clear, but a close review of the evidence conducted for me by Jonathan Gelbart of Stanford University shows 234 arrests made in 2005, 124 in 2004. and 137 in 2003. In all, the total West European terrorism-related arrests appear to number less than 1,400.
U.S. arrests: According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Sageman's American figure is too low by a factor of almost ten. Department spokesman Sean Boyd indicated, according to a Fox News report, that "527 defendants have been charged in terrorism or terrorism-related cases arising from investigations primarily conducted after Sept. 11. Those cases have resulted in 319 convictions, with an additional 176 cases pending in court." Plus, as I documented at "Denying [Islamist] Terrorism" and its follow-up blog), politicians, law enforcement personnel, and the media are loathe to acknowledge terrorist incidents, so the real number of terrorism-related arrests is substantially higher.
Given that the Muslim population in the United States is about 1/7th size of its West European counterpart (3 million vs. 21 million), using the figures of 527 arrests for the United States and 1,400 for Europe suggests that the Muslim per-capita arrest rate on terrorism-related charges in the United States is 2.5 times higher than in Europe, not, as Sageman asserts, 6 times lower. In fact, Sageman (who was offered a chance to reply to this article but declined) is off by a factor of about 15.
His error has major implications. If the United States, despite the much better socio-economic standing of its Muslims, suffers from 2.5 times more terrorism per capita than does Europe, socio-economic improvements are unlikely to solve Europe's problems.
This conclusion fits into a larger argument that Islamism has little to do with economic or other stresses. Put differently, ideas matter more than personal circumstances. As I put it in 2002, "The factors that cause militant Islam to decline or flourish appear to have more to do with issues of identity than with economics." Whoever accepts the Islamist (or communist or fascist) worldview, whether rich or poor, young or old, male or female, also accepts the ideological infrastructure that potentially leads to violence, including terrorism.
In policy terms, Americans have no reason to be smug. Yes, Europeans should indeed learn from the United States how better to integrate their Muslim population, but they should not expect that doing so will also diminish their terrorism problem. It could, indeed, even worsen.

But in case of creator of universe named Jehovah and Allah, who could have created people with pre-programmed brains of good behaviour and stopped creation of minds dissenting with gods' own commands. Creating people of discerning minds and their after killing his own creatures (Koran 8:17) questions capabilty of Allah being almighty. Belief in such creationism is childish and shows lower stage of evolution of brain. Warning all India about the vicious plan of the J&K Govt hand in hand with the Union Govt, VHP International President Ashok Singhal and General Secretary Dr Pravin Togadia said," To revoke Amarnath Land is only the tip of the iceberg. The real game-plan is to declare all Hindu pilgrimage places in India as either Jungle, mountain, sea or river places & STOP HINDU PILGRIMAGE ALL OVER INDIA."
Drawing comparison, Dr Togadia pointed out, "They are doing same with the Rameshwaram Ramsetu, did same when Archaeology department prevented Hindus from worshipping ancient Navagrahas in Konark Sun temple & there are many more such experiences. Once they get away with AmarnathLand revocation, then they will even claim that Sabarimala in Kerala, Swamimalai in TN, Vindhyavasini in U.P., Tirupati Balaji on Tirumala, Ashtavinayaks in Maharashtra, Jtyotirlingams are in jungles, on mountains, near sea, near river…so these lands revoked.

5. No Namaz be allowed in India or on Indian streets. 4 speakers 5 times a day pollute much more.
6. Article 370 must be immediately scrapped. All Indians have a fundamental right to travel & buy land anywhere in India including Jammu & Kashmir.

Islam is not a religion, nor is it a cult. In its completed,
intended form, it is an all encompassing system of life. It originally
plagiarized the religious and theological works of the time to establish
a political opposition to the societies in the Mid-East of the sixth
century.
Dominated by primarily European and Asian influences, the nomadic
Arabic peoples were drawn to the political organization which offered
them economic opportunity to be gained by the force of arms. Islam has
legal, political, economic, social, and military components. The
religious component is a camouflaging capsule for all of its other
entities.
Islamization of a society begins when there are sufficient Muslims in
a country to agitate for discriminatory religious privileges. When
politically correct, tolerant, and culturally diverse societies agree to
Muslim demands for their religious privileges, some of the other
manifestations tend to infiltrate, eroding and contaminating the culture.
Here's how history validates the progression:
As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any
given country, they will be for the most part regarded as a peace-loving
minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:
United States -- Muslim 0.6%
Australia -- Muslim 1.5%
Canada -- Muslim 1.9%
China -- Muslim 1.8%
Italy -- Muslim 1.5%
Norway -- Muslim 1.8%
At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize among other ethnic minorities
and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and
among street gangs. This is happening in:
Denmark -- Muslim 2%
Germany -- Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%
Spain -- Muslim 4%
Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%
From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to
their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the
introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing
food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on
supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves -- along with
threats for failure to comply.
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow

100% supposedly ushers in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic
House of Peace. There is supposed to be peace, because everybody is a
Muslim, the madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only
word, such as in:
Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%
Somalia -- Muslim 100%
Yemen -- Muslim 100%
Unfortunately, peace is never achieved! As in the 100% states above,
the most radical Muslims intimidate, spew hatred, violate women and
children, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims,
using rationalizations and corruptions of every basic human decency.
Whether in mutilating women or raping young boys, they invoke the name of
religion for authority. One only need to recall the killing of innocent
female children in Saudi Arabia by religious police, or the atrocities of
the Taliban in order to realize that we are in a war where our enemies do
not fight by the rules governing civilized nations.
In some countries with relatively small minority Moslem populations,
such as France (8%), these minority Moslem populations live in ghettos.
Within these 100% Islamic communities, they live by Sharia law. Police
do not even enter these ghettos. There are no national courts holding
them accountable to the societies they seek to change to their false and
corrupt ideologies. Schools are Islamic, and there are no non-Muslim
religious facilities. In these enclaves of injustice and religious
totalitarianism, Muslims do not integrate into the community at large.
Their is absolutely no intention to assimilate into the cultures that
afforded them economic opportunities not to be found when Islamic
theocracies rule. The children attend madrasses. They learn only the
Koran, and the evil of Islam. To even associate with an infidel is a
crime punishable with death. In some areas of certain nations, such as
Iran, Imams and extremists exercise more power than the majority.
Today's 1.5 billion Muslims make up 22% of the world's population.
Because their birth rates dwarf the birth rates of Christians, Hindus,
Buddists, Jews, and all other believers, Muslims will exceed 50% of the
world's population by the end of this century. Clearly, able only to
dominate by injustice and force, the potential for these purveyors of
evil to overcome democracies is real unless it is resisted by citizens
loyal to an absolute of law embraced by the men and women who gave birth
to this "one Nation, under God, . . . dedicated to the proposition that
all men are created equal." From The Attack on America, "tolerance is
the enemy of justice", and righteous people everywhere must be intolerant
of injustice, regardless of religious or political trappings . Freedom is
never free!

The dualism of Democracy, Christianity and Islam are more deceitful and offer two choices on how to treat the people of alien faiths. The people of alien faiths can be treated nicely, in the same way a farmer treats his cattle well after one becomes slave. So Democracy, Christianity and Islam can be "nice", but in no case is the person of alien faith a "brother" or a friend.

Warning all India about the vicious plan of the J&K Govt hand in hand with the Union Govt, VHP International President Ashok Singhal and General Secretary Dr Pravin Togadia said," To revoke Amarnath Land is only the tip of the iceberg. The real game-plan is to declare all Hindu pilgrimage places in India as either Jungle, mountain, sea or river places & STOP HINDU PILGRIMAGE ALL OVER INDIA."
Drawing comparison, Dr Togadia pointed out, "They are doing same with the Rameshwaram Ramsetu, did same when Archaeology department prevented Hindus from worshipping ancient Navagrahas in Konark Sun temple & there are many more such experiences. Once they get away with AmarnathLand revocation, then they will even claim that Sabarimala in Kerala, Swamimalai in TN, Vindhyavasini in U.P., Tirupati Balaji on Tirumala, Ashtavinayaks in Maharashtra, Jtyotirlingams are in jungles, on mountains, near sea, near river…so these lands revoked.
This is a serious anti-Hindu game-plan. They did the same in Malaysia, Jordan, Indonesia etc. Hindus need to wake up against this Jehad before it is too late otherwise these anti-Hindu forces will not leave any Hindu place of worship".
VHP demanded:
1. At no cost Amarnath Yaatra will ever be allowed to be stopped or pilgrims affected.
2. We will NOT STOP until the AmarnathLand is given back to Amarnath Shrines Board. BHAGVAN SHIV AMARNATH CAME FIRST IN THAT JUNGLE WHEN THERE WERE NO BRITISH LAWS ABOUT JUNGLES & OBVIOUSLY NO RELIGIONS THAT STARTED JUST 1500 OR 2000 YEARS BACK. SO THE LAND BELONGS TO AMARNATH.
3. All Hajj Houses must be taken back & converted into charity hospitals for the poor.
4. Haj Subsidy must be cancelled. No flights for Haj to be sent wasting precious fuel which costs have been increased by none other that these Jehadis to hurt economies of the non-Muslim countries.
5. No Namaz be allowed in India or on Indian streets. 4 speakers 5 times a day pollute much more.
6. Article 370 must be immediately scrapped. All Indians have a fundamental right to travel & buy land anywhere in India including Jammu & Kashmir.
7. Give Kashmir in the hands of the Army & hang all Jehadis who flashed Pakistan flags & shouted "We are Pakistani" slogans and anti-Amarnath slogans. This is sedition & treason.
